Episode: Money money money

My handphone is almost 3 years old. I think for someone my age, I have one of the oldest handphone in Singapore. People usually use their handphone close to 2 years and they change it to a new one. For those who are rich, they would change their phone once every six months. The iPhone is a fantastic phone, however everybody is using it. I would love to have one, but I am eyeing on Sony Ericsson's Xperia. It seems great, but I have no money.

Currently, I have just ended poly life with a diploma and waiting for my NS enlistment letter to come. In between that, I have a class chalet to attend, an aptitude test to take then, an interview, plus my Bro's engagement coming up. Other than that, I am free. I am not sure if I should go out, find a job and get that $$.. One more thing, I need to know when am I going to NS, so that if I find a job, I can tell my employer that I can only work until then. For now, I cannot do much.

I still get pocket money. Its $50 for TWO WEEKS.. Its like $3.50 per day. Today is Thurday, 1st week and I have $10 with me. I always starve myself to get through the day. Well, I don't think I can starve my way to get a new handphone. How do I usually spend my money?

Well. I go shopping once a year (Hari Raya-which means I don't shop for clothes). 70% on materials for school work. The rest of the 30% I spend it on my gal and myself, which is not much.

Most of the time when my classmates go out to eat, its hard for me to join in. Why? 1) the restaurants that they choose to dine in is not HALAL..and 2) it is way expensive. Recently, the class went to eat at Novena's Brazilian Fiesta. I did not join because of the 2 reasons above.. To me, 40++ is way too expensive for a buffet per person. If I go, 2 weeks of my pocket money is gone in just a day.

For the rest of my classmates, its ok for them..Why? They are rich, or simply do not know their limit. I do not know why,(not to be racist or anything) the Chinese people tend to spend spend spend..no matter what their income may be. Maybe they are scared to lose face. It seems that if they don't show that they can spend, they are labeled as poor. And that is a BIG issue for the Chinese.

The Malays, seem to eat at what majority would say cheap places.. Places like fast food restaurants and kopitiams. If you ask a Malay where is the nearest fast food restaurants, 90% they would know.

For the time being, I'll just be thankful for what I have. And guys, if you ask me out regularly to restaurants, you know my answer. Oh ya..I wished that $ would fall from the sky for me..hehe. But only after my gal gets a job, and a seat reserved for me in NUS industrial design. Those are much much more important to me than any amount of money.
