Episode: a date with the Copic marker
Sunday, August 31, 2008

Woke up to a beautiful morning. There were some cool breezes hitting my face. Slight haze could be seen from a far. I got up at around 10am, because my mom woke me up, so as I could keep an eye on my grandma. She is going out with both my sisters to get their baju kabaya at Geylang.

Well, since its a Sunday and it is a holiday as well, I just sat at home, resting. I always do this, as no one else would ask me out. Quite sad though, but its ok. I have a date with my Copic markers today. I just decided to sketch out my picture and render it with Copic markers. It took me some time to finish it, but it filled my time with enjoyment, especially when I look at the final result.

Not only that, up until the night, I kept on swinging my Copic markers just like a lightsaber held by a Jedi. I did up my multimedia device rendering..

As well as my communication device rendering.

Well, that seems to be it. Until next time..

Episode: tradition
Saturday, August 30, 2008

I was still feeling sleepy when I woke up at 9am this morning. Well, my mom wanted to get me a baju kurung for Hari Raya before the fasting month. It seems to be a tradition. I went out the house at around 9+ with my mom wearing my shades. Most of the time, my eyes were half closed when we took the MRT towards Dover . We got there to meet up with my grandma, my aunt, my bro and two of my cousins. Then when they arrived, we took the train all the way there.

When resting, I saw my brother whipping out his iphone. Only today that I found out that he owns one. He bought it at around $200 I guess, as his previous hand phone has problems switching on. Of course I tired the iphone out. It was cool.

We then made a move towards Geylang market.

It was such a hot and bright day. When I took out my shades, it feels like someone switching a torchlight right in front my eyes.

Though you can see that there are lots of clouds, unfortunately the clouds were not above us. It seems that the Geylang market is not a cloud magnet to provide some shades for us.

Soon we arrived at the place. As usual, the place was crampy. Shops across each other by a few steps. Well, that was the experience there, expect it to be that way. Well, you choose to go in the morning, it is hot, but not crowded. If you choose to go at night, it is cold, but I can assure you that there would be so many people there.

It was us, the guys, to buy our baju kurung first. Since we are those typical guys, we are not picky when buying clothes. On the second shop that we visited, we already bought all that we wanted..haha. My baju kurung that I got has the colour old orange, but it is light in colour.

I guess that we were more interested in filling our stomachs and quenching our thirst at that time, rather than spending energy in looking for the perfect clothes. Anyways, we went separate ways. The guys went out looking for food, while the ladies go find something else.

We made our way to KFC and had the Zinger buddy meal. It was very filing for a meal that cost $11.90.

Then, after eating, we met up with the ladies at Geylang market. They were having lunch there.

The ladies still got time to shop at one last place to get some carpet.

This was clipped on one of the carpets selling there. It says," Offer $25, Tauke Mabuk!", which simply means that the shop owner is probably drunk to give such a good offer.

Soon, we went home. Some of us took the cab home. While the rest of we went to...

Tanjong Katong Complex to shop a little bit more.

We were here for a while. I guess my aunt had already placed a purchase before and simply came here to collect. Homed after that. Reached home at almost 3pm. Then, I crashed.

At night, since my dad just came back from a trip to KL, he brought home some jackfruit and wild rambutans home. I had some. It was nice and sweet.

Looked like some new mixed fruit beverage flavour. Jackfruit and wild rambutans, I assure you it will taste aweful..haha.

On the left is the wild rambutan's seed, while the other is the jackfruit's seed.

Today, it seems quite ok. Going to Geylang feels so like Malay..haha. I wonder if I go little India, I would feel like so Indian..haha.

Episode: Teacher's Day
Friday, August 29, 2008

Something kept bothering me when I was about to go sleep yesterday night. I knew that I was going to visit my secondary school teachers today, and I do not want to make my visit something like a Hi and Bye kind of visit, thus this 'Aidiea' kept bothering me that night. So, I just thought of making something to give my teachers, as something to remember me by.

My 'Aidiea' is to give something to my teachers who have thought me. There were six teachers in my mind, so I picked up the cardboard that I had and started dividing them into six pieces. After writing out the message, I cut it out just like a jigsaw puzzle, as teachers are the pieces of the puzzle of my life. It took me quite sometime to accurately cut the jigsaw pieces. So, in order for my teachers to read my message, they have to get together put the pieces together and read it. I imagined that it would be great if they got together for this and read it.

Woke up at around 9+, then I got ready and went out of the house. Took the bus to my secondary school, and I arrived there around 10am together with Liyana and Rafiq. We had to sign in our names in order to get in the school to meet out teachers. I mean, its teacher's day, you should expect a lot of ex-students to visit the school.

The first thing that we did was to go to the canteen and eat the Mee Rebus and Mee Soto. I remember that we used to eat it everyday for school, but now we only get to eat it at least one a year. Though it does not taste that high class, but the experience of eating it brings a lot of memories to all of us.

After years of not using the fountain, it seems to rot at places.

After eating, we went up to the hall and watched the Teacher's Day performances. There were some potentially great performances and I enjoyed them a lot.

We were at the gallery when we were viewing the performances. The helmets are Rafiq's, I am just posing with it, to take in the feel of owning a motorcycle license..hehe.

After the performances, we went looking around for the six teachers that I want to see before I go off.

At the end of the day, I manage to give out all six pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. These were some of the ones who got it. Most of my teachers asked me where is my gal and how come she did not came along. Well, I simply told them that she is having her test at the moment, thus unable to come along.

Soon, it was time to go for prayers. Rafiq sent me to the mosque, and after that he joined the rest to chill outside.

After prayers, I joined them for some fun. Rafiq and Liyana have to polish their Taitee skills, as they were the only ones who lost in the game. And Liyana, don't you think that I forget about the forfeit that you owe us..haha.

We than waited for my gal to finish her last paper today. Her paper ends at 4pm, at around 4+ she called, and told us that she is going home first to change then go out to meet us. Since we knew it would be a good hour or so before she gets out of the house, we went home.

I took the bus home. I even got the time to bathe, re-do my hair and rest on my bed for a while before my gal messaged to meet.

After 3 long weeks without seeing her due to the tests and assignments, finally we get to meet today. Without wasting any time we went off to Dhobby Ghaut. We went to Paradiz Centre's Mad Jacks to eat. We were there at around 7. She ordered blue mountain while I got myself the fish baked rice.

By the time we finished eating, it was around 8+. It took her sometime to finish the blue mountain. I even noticed that a lot of people around us had finished their food and left the place before us.

Then, we thought of walking to the Singapore Flyer for a look at the reception counter, but after walking for about half an hour, we were unsure of the direction, so we made a turn to Marina Square, then the Esplanade to peep at the BayBeats 2008. At that time when we left, Peepshow was just warming up. Thought of staying there for a while to listen, but its ok, maybe next time.

Got home at around 10pm or so. Today seem to be one of the best days for weeks. Met my dear teachers after a year not seeing them and my gal after three weeks not seeing her. Hope that this sacrifice that we made would pay off in our results. I do believe both of us gave our all for this semester's test and assignments. We do deserve good results ya.

Episode: rendering day
Thursday, August 28, 2008

Got out of bed at around 6+ and looked outside my window. It was raining heavily. It has been a very long time since it rained like this last. The weather turned out to be very cold for the rest of today.

I went to school at 11am with my A3 papers and Copic markers to do some rendering for my portfolio. When I was about to enter the studio, I smelt something awful. Something burning. So, I went in the studio. The smell got worst. My lecturer was there at that time. When I told him about the burning smell, he went sniffing around. He had flu, so his sense of smell was not that good. After using our noses to figure out what was creating that burning smell, we found out that this was the cause.

It was the air conditioning controller. As you can see, the one on the left has some parts of it burned and melted. Soon, Paul came in. He noticed it too. Only then he told us that whenever it rains, the roof will leak and hit the controller. No wonder it melted. Due to the heavy rain this morning, it leaked some of the water to the controller and it seems that the water hit the circuits and causing it to burn up and melt the controller, thus producing that awful burning stench.

My lecturer called in the technician and they removed the melted controller.

They also opened up the door located by the side of our studio. I had never seen it opened, so this was a first for me.

The studio was cleaned up and things are kept in the cupboards and drawers by the side. Ivan, Zhai Wei, Wee Tyng and Paul came to do it.

I did not help, as I was too engrossed doing rendering for my portfolio.

This was my N'level Design and Technology submission.

This was my O'level Design and Technology submission.

This was the trophy design I made when I was in year one of my course.

And, this was my last years Muji competition submission.

After that, around 4.30pm, Ivan and myself went to West Mall to catch a movie. We got there and bought our tickets. The movie started at 5.30pm, so with 20 minutes left we got to the food court to eat before the movie.

The Chicken rice was not that bad. It was actually quite nice.

Soon, the movie was about to start, and we made our way to the cinema. Bought some nachos and drinks into the theater. We watched..

The movie was an hour and 30minutes long, but when you are there to watch the movie, you would feel that you have been sitting there for a longer time. The reason was that the events in the movie doesn't seem to have a break. The plots and scenes kept going and going. It felt like they are trying to compress so much scenes into one episode. Well, the graphics was alright to me. Though some would complain that the animated characters do not resemble the actors on screen at all, I only agree to a certain extent. If you were to watch the Clone Wars on Cartoon Network, the character resembles those characters more.

Gt home at around 7.30pm, and I crashed. It was a quite tiring day. For the rest of the day, it was just as per normal. Thats it for today.
