Episode: SD BE Talentime
Friday, October 31, 2008

The highlight for the day was the SD BE Talentime. But the day goes as per normal. I had my classes early in the morning. Got to school with my gal. After my class, I went home with my gal. Then I went for prayers. After prayers, I got my CCA. So, I got back to school with my gal, as she will be having classes in the afternoon. On the way there, she gave me a hug. That was sweet of her. I really needed that. I had my CCA from 3 until around 4.30pm. Then I asked for permission to go off. I went to change and reached the Moberly at 5pm.

When I came, the crowd was not there yet.

After awhile they came. My classmates arrived in black. Today was Halloween, so the class decided to wear black. It was very cool. Anyways, I approached them. They had something in their hands. When I looked at it, it was this.

They did a poster of me. It was really making my face turn red. But, it was really sweet and thoughtful of them.

The contestants had to sit one side.

While the Judges, the other.

They were the judges. Two of them are from Tiet studios and one from SP, I guess she was the winner of last year's SP star.

The performances started with the soloist. I was the second to perform. I sang, Heaven(my gal's pick) and How to save a life by The Fray. I was nervous. I did enjoyed the time on stage. I gave what I could at that moment.

After I sang, my lecturer(yup, he was there too) shouted, "We love you!" The judges commented that I had that stage presence as well as the X-factor, BUT, my pitching was here and there at times. The rest of the contestants were alright. There were suppose to be six contestants, but Ayu only got to know that she was selected only today. She did not even prepare anything, so she had no choice but to back-out. I find the first singer was alright,Brenda gave a good performance, Syafiq spoil the song he sang and the last one was this Malay girl named Zara, when she sings, the judges were grooving with her. Her voice was great!

I came to the band performances next. The first band gave a good performance, we all enjoyed it, it was easy to the ears and soulful. The rest of the band were hardcore, especially the last one. It was more like screaming. Glenn was making jokes out of the song. He said it sounded like somebody screaming hardcore,"cheeseburger regular FRIES!!!" Haha. Maybe we should compose a song like that. It would be comical.

Oh ya. Speaking of bands, Shah and his band performed. I liked his first and last song, it was nice. But his second song, his vocals were not there. But, in the end, his band got second placing, receiving 6 hours of free jamming time at Tiet studios.

Actually, the soloist's results were out first. There were five of us. They gave prizes only to the top three contestants. Two had to be eliminated. Syafiq and Brenda were eliminated. I got third placing, while the first soloist to sing got second and Zara was the winner. I got this $50 Popular bookstore voucher as a prize.

After everything, my classmates that were left were Yikai, Glenn, Lee Peng and Carolyn. Thanks guys for supporting me all the way. You guys are the best! Oh, they made this for me. In the end, I took it home. It was really sweet of them. Well, I guess it was Ivan who made it for me, as it states there on the bottom left,"Ivan made this". It was made out of junk. The cow figures was spoilt long ago, and the rest was made out of Alluminium foil and cardboard. It is junk, but these junk was put together with care. So, it meant a lot to me that you guys took the effort to do it. Now, it is being kept in my room. Just come to my room, and it is there. Thanks guys!

Then I went home. Taking the MRT with the huge poster in my hand. It was embarrassing, but I did not mind. Got home, told my parents the whole story about the talent time. Well, today was great! I really enjoyed myself. My classmates were awesome! My lecturer is awesome! I will remember this day always.

Episode: the things I forget
Thursday, October 30, 2008

School was as usual. Starts at 8am today. It really makes a huge difference for me when I did not let go of any train on the way to school.

The first class was just doing some 3D modeling. We really took such a long time building the model using Rhino. I wish to perfect it someday, but notice that using Solidworks seems to be easier.

Next, we had IDT, played with LEGO again. Had a short test. I got 3 out of 5 questions right again. After the test, I quickly took out my LEGO set and start playing with it. It was fun.

After that class, we had sometime before the next one. My group have to prepare a presentation, but before that they all were eating. So, I joined them. It is very rare that I join my classmates to have lunch together. I enjoyed it.

It was presentation time. I guess it was difficult for us, as the class was doing their own things. When my part comes, I tried to get their attention, but I had to layout the fact too, so I find that part myself was boring. There was another group presenting too. I find that their presentation was alright. One thing that I would like to comment was that, it felt as they were presenting on lights, rather than lamps(their presentation title).

After a discussion with my group members, I went home. I felt that so far in this semester, today was the day that I went home early. I reached home at 6.30pom. Tomorrow, I will be performing for the talent time competition. Hope you guys can turn up and support me. Remember, it is at Moberly, at around 6pm. I will give my best.

Episode: this is me
Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Back to work, again. After consulting our lecturer, he suggested that we did this. Another piece to the puzzle that hopefully would help us design better.

Then, when class ended, and we knew what we suppose to do for our work, my group went on doing their own things. I took have my own things to do. Since I have nothing else to do, I head off to my GEMs. This is Han's bag. Man I wish I could have one.

Anyways, after GEMs, we had a meeting. After the meeting was another meeting. I was suppose to have my CCA at 3pm, but at 5pm, I am still in the meeting. Soon, I went off for my CCA.

Reached the hall at around 5.30pm or so. I came and quickly change and trained. At around 6.30pm the training ends. I had only an hour of training. I was not enough. I still yet to prove to the team that I am a good player. With the kind of attendance that I am showing, how could I? There are still plenty of work left to do. It is very difficult for me to balance a lot of things. Though I try, but in the end, I sacrifice my breakfast and lunch. There are even more things that I had sacrificed, and I hope with all my sacrifices, everything would pay off in the end.

Episode: cheerless
Tuesday, October 28, 2008

School was suppose to be from 8am to 10am. It was LEGO time again. This time, we had to program the robot to move within a box. At first it was slightly difficult, but in the end it turned out to be just fine. After that head back to the studio and did some work. My goodness, work does not seem to end. My lecturer was planning to ask the whole class out today. But I was still unsure if I have time to go. My group members were going, so since I cannot do anything without them, I just came along.

Searching the place was slightly difficult, but I finally got to the place with Zhai Wei's help.

My whole class was already there, waiting.

After some time, the tour started. You cannot start the tour without the tour guide. As he has the controls to the effects of the place.

We entered the sliding up door, and into this area. Everybody was so keen at taking pictures that the tour guide seems to be pissed off.

Next, the cool part was that we were apart of a story. A story that we all seems to relate. A video of a train arriving was actually projected to the glass doors, giving a train arriving feel. We stood behind the yellow line and waited for the doors to open.

We stepped into the next exhibition. I think we can spend a lot of our time there, but the tour has to go on. It was really fun being the passengers and the drivers of those old tranportation modes in Singapore.

As we got to the other room, the other side of the turning doors were another presentation board. I feel that this was great, as it really fully utilize the space given.

Some other interesting things. These are the taxi driver license in the olden times, but not used anymore.

This was the one that I was looking forward to knowing. As you can see there are many different kinds of license plates for vehicles in Singapore.
The first three are those usual ones.
The red ones are weekend cars.
The orange ones are for those vehicles carrying toxic goods.
The green one are for vehicles found at Pulau Ubin.
The red and yellow are for those vehicles within a company, and to be driven inside the company's compound.
Blue and yellow license plate are for those European vehicles test driving around Singapore before going into sales.
The red and green are for vehicles that are of more that 25 years old. These vehicles are not meant to be on the roads more that around 35 times per year. As the LTA does not want these vehicles to break down and cause unnecessary traffic jams.

This was another interesting part. As the screen slides, it really slides off to the next slide.

This is the map of Singapore. If you were there, you can see a lot of dots. Those dots indicates the number of bus stops there are in Singapore.

Off to the next room. We got to seat on F1 seats and then viewed an interactive video. Before it begins the room was lighted red.

These were the buttons to press from when questions are asked. Those who pressed the buttons a lot of times, see me tomorrow. I want to give them detention. Haha.

The screen was huge, just like in the cinema. However, the partition lines at the screens destroys it.

Next, heading on to the future of transport in Singapore. We were given a futuristic glimpse of how the LTA would be.

There was this detailed map on one of the few touch screens there. At first I was looking for my house, but then, I can even search areas outside Singapore. That is cool.

See these lines? Well, they are actually optical illusions. As we walk, we can see something moving on the other side. It was nice, but when everybody want to see it, it turns into a bad experience. Ying Ying was shaking her head, and accidentally hit mine. Though it was painful, it did not hurt me that much, as I am used to getting balls hitting my head.

Get a view of this. Yup, most of the class went there. It was fun.

Then we head down to the National Library to view the Tan Kah Kee exhibition. Along the way, many of us disappeared, as most were not interested to go there.

We were not to take pictures there, but I manage to get one with Singapore's forefathers. One of them is wearing the same specs as mine. Hehe.

That was the end of the exhibitions. We then head off to Raffles City mall for some lunch. They all went in this Japanese food court. It was not Halal, so I did not went in. I walked around for a while. But soon, they called me to just sit around the place, as we need to discuss about work there.

During that time, I went in this sweets shop. Two things caught my attention. One, was the jelly beans. I really like jelly beans!

While the other was this massive Toblerone chocolates. They were very big. I know that the picture does not show so, but I assure you that it was huge. One of those cost $18.

So, I joined the rest at Shokudo.

I just sat there.

While they grabbed their foods.

I was hungry, so after they finish eating, Ivan and Glenn accompanied me to Long John Sliver's to eat. Then, I went home. I was really tired. The huge books that Ivan gave me, left my right hand weak. Got home around 7+. When I was drawing out my work, I can feel that my hand was tired. Alright, I got work to do. All these work had left me cheerless. I don't think I have the mood to be cheerful at school tomorrow.
