Episode: interview
Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I wore something very formal today, as I will be having an interview at Ubi Crescent Techpark. I came to the studio very early, I was already outside the studio at 7.45am. I had to be early, as I need to do a couple of things first before going for the interview.

The studio only opened at around 8.30am. I quickly scanned my sketches and then did up my portfolio. Then, I needed to print. I borrowed Shah's folio, thanks Shah. Paul helped my convert the portfolio into PDF file to submit to my lecturer. It all finish around 9.35am. I am suppose to be at the interview at 10.30am.

With less than an hour, I rushed down to the place. Alighted at Aljunied MRT, took the overhead bridge and waited for the bus.

I was waiting for bus 63, but this was blocking my view and was creating so much noise. I was already running out of time. Thankfully, the bus arrived in a few minutes time.

I was looking at the map in my hand phone while looking for the building. I got there and the first thing I saw was the stairs, so I ran up five floors to the level. Then, finding the room took me sometime. I was panting when I arrived at the place.

I reached the place 5 minutes late. Well my hand phone showed 10.45am, but I followed my watch which showed 10.35am. The place was just like any other office. It was very quiet. Soon, I had to fill in a form before I enter for interview. As I filled in that form, I took a breath and looked around. The place was filled with Chinese decorations, and me being a Malay, felt unwelcome.

You want to know how the interview went? One word, bad. He asked me about what I knew about the company, about what I know about eye wear and even asked me to look and describe the product that he showed me. All the questions, I stuttered. I told him that I am outspoken, but I did not show it during my interview. Then, he said communication skills were important, then after he looked at my portfolio, he asked if I could do store design, web design and other fields that my course is not teaching me and not in the field and the kind of job I am looking for. I mean, I would take any design job, but he really pisses me off when he said that he encourage people for coming late after I had apologized to him.

Then, I got back to the studio and did some work. After that, I went to my grandma's house.at around almost 7pm, my brother and I went to West Mall. He wanted to change his cash to Malaysian Ringgit. I was there just accompanying him. It had been a while since I last stepped to West Mall.

Got home, I installed the free game that we took from Comic store. I was playing the game, but then my laptop battery died on me while I was playing. Nice..
