Episode: memories
Monday, October 27, 2008

Way early in the morning, my family and I went out. Crossed the checkpoint and head down to our Kampung at Pontian. Arrived there at around 10+.

We were there to donate all our unused clothes to the people there. Well, non of them are mine, I guess as all the boxes were taken out from my sisters room. I think all these unused clothes that are given away is equal to the amount of clothes I have.

We got to our neighbor's house there and I saw this. Very innovative way to keep a shoe dry.

After a while, my sister asked us siblings out to the shops there. The weather was very hot.

I has been a while since I last walked to the shops there. I used to walk to and fro there when I was younger.

We finally reach the area where the shops are located. As you can see my sister is even using an umbrella.

Wee Tyng's kampong is around here too, but I am still not sure where it is. I might never know that all this while she is one of my neighbor in Malaysia.

We looked at the sign on one of the shops. As you can see, that the shop was established ever since 1978. That is 30 years old.

We just spend spend and spend. Bought all kinds of snacks.

The walk back was even more tiring. With all the stuff we bought in our hands, we just want to get back to the house and chill.

With all the snacks that we bought, we had a snacks party. We opened one by one and eat until we feel we shouldn't.

Among the snacks, I bought this. Ding Dang and Tora. These are my childhood favourite snacks. Just because there are toys inside. The best part is that you would not know what you will get.

So, I opened one, while my sister opened another.

The toys are those fix-it-yourself models of animals.

I assembled it up and it looks great. I really find joy in such things. Even my mom joined in the fun. I ate the chocolates soon after, but the biscuits were limp. Too bad, but the expiry date shows 31st December 2009. Look, my ostrich is shitting chocolates. Yummy! Haha.

There were other figures of animals, like a lion and a kangaroo.

After that we took a nap. Once our nap is over, we visited this bowling alley. We had never been inside the place, so we just went there to discover.

The place was simple. Though a bowling alley is suppose to be air conditioned, this one it seems that the air conditioning is no longer working.

Such vintage score boards.

We intend to play a few games, but since that condition was like that, we decided not to.

Then, my dad drove us to the bus terminal there. It has been such a long time since I stepped into this place. The last time I guess was when my dad did not have a car. That time, whenever we would go back to our kampong, we would have to squeeze in the buses. It was such a bad experience, but now ever since my dad got a car, going there seems much simpler.

Another thing there that I would not forget is the ice chendol there. To me, this place provides the best ice chendol in the world.

The sweetness is just right and it is very refreshing. I think, that this stall's ice chendol was my first taste of chendol. Even the one in Geylang cannot compete with this one. I remember whenever reaching this stall by car when I was younger, my dad would wake me up from my nap and this ice chendol would be something refreshing going down my throat. I really like it.

Then, we head out to get some food before leaving for Singapore.

We ate here. The place was located near the seaside. So, when we eat, the cold breeze would hit our faces.

After eating, we got back to the car and head out to the resting area near the 2nd link.

The gas station would be the never miss spot for us. It was because of these. Usually, new and not yet released products in Singapore are sold here. I bought a few things.

Now, the worst thing was when we had to cross the 2nd Link. There was a traffic jam there. I think it was because today was Deepavali and tomorrow is back to school. Got home at around 8pm. Oh, ya! To all my Indian pals, happy Deepavali!
