Episode: a day in my life; Hari Raya Edition
Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Let me begin with what happened in the morning. Well, supposedly all Muslim guys should go for Hari Raya prayers, but I woke up a few minutes before it started. In the end, I did not go as I was still tired and my dad was sleeping. If I were to go, I would be alone. The hard court in front of my house was packed with Muslim men praying on this special day. On the day we celebrate our triumph of fasting for the whole month, we also seek forgiveness to anybody who we had made wrongdoings to. I dressed up like this for the day. Soon, at around 12, we made a move to my grandma's house.

Why our grandma's house first? Well, it is our tradition and custom to visit the elderly first. That means visiting my grandma. We arrived there at around 12+. We were welcomed with cakes and tarts as well as some food and drinks.

Since, everybody is visiting my grandma today, my grandma's small house was packed with all my aunts and uncles, cousins and my distant relatives. It have always been like this every year. Though it was crampy, we did not mind, the important thing is that we strengthen family ties. My grandma's house is also a place that holds many memories not only for me, but also to my family.

Some of us just stay put at one place, due to the limited space.

The day would not be complete if we did not capture the moment. We did took a lot of photos. There were candid shots, family shots, cousin shots and plenty more.

Such cousin shots looks like this. These are my female cousins. The male cousins even more in numbers. We all took photos with our grandma. Soon after the picture taking, my dad left for work. He work in the afternoon today, so we did not go anywhere other than my grandma's house for the first day of Hari Raya.

There were plenty of good shows on TV, so my family just spent the day watching TV and serving the guests coming in. We watched TV until around 9.30pm or so and then we went home by taking a cab. Got home, I ate some stuff and after bathing, I cut my hair. I guess it looks much neater now. Hopefully, tomorrow would my dad get a day off, so we could visit the rest of my family members all over Singapore.
