Episode: start of fasting month / Lifestyle design workshop
Monday, September 1, 2008

Stock up on energy for the day when we woke up at 4+ to eat. When the clocks strikes 5.30am we started fasting. Then, I took a nap before waking up at around 7+ to go to school. I reached school at around 9am, and already there are a few secondary school students gathering at the studio.

It all started at around 9+. Our lecturers gave them a brief on what is going to happen today as well as the rest of the week.

There were lamps around, so I guess they are going to design some lamps at the end of the week.

But first, they have to watch this clip created by the year ones from my course. The clip my group get to see was made by Ren's group. The video clip was about relaxing, smoking, playing music and just enjoy life. From there, the secondary school students had to do a mood board. All they had to do for two hours was to create a collage of the video that they saw by cutting and pasting pictures from magazines.

While they were bust doing so, I saw this in my studio. This was the competition that I signed in to join recently.

After two hours had past, the whole group went to food court 4 to have lunch. I was just there to sit and watch them eat.

After the break, there was another briefing by our lecturers. The brief was to design a lamp shade. I helped my team members with the structure of the lamp, and after that they are on their own.

Well, we were not suppose to make our lamp shade, by Glenn and myself did ours. This was Glenn's, but I saw it somewhere before.

Ans this was mine. What took the secondary school students hours to make, I made this within a few minutes. Well, at first it looks like a mop.

But when the lights are switched on, it looks more like a pumpkin.

So, I decided to cut out the eyes, nose and mouth, just like people did when they are celebrating Halloween. When the lights are switched on, it really does look like a jack-o lantern.

Then, Wee Tyng decided to modify it further, since we have the time to do so. She gave the jack-o lantern a body and some hair.

Soon, we added the legs and arms. And in the end,....

it looks like this.. Quite scary huh?!

We took quite a few photos with the jack-o lantern.

It was nearing the end of today's session of the workshop and Rui Hon played DJ max against one of the secondary school students. He was like bullying the poor kid. She did not even win once.

Then, when the clock hits 5.30pm and after the debrief, I went home. After reaching home, I went out again, this time to buy food for break fast later. I got down to the bazaar to buy food, and similarly to last year, the place is always packed with people who is celebrating the fasting month. I got myself briyani dam. It cost $4. I asked for mutton, they gave me chicken. But its fine, I don't really mind. Soon, my mom came and helped me buy the rest of the meal to fast.

Got home, unpacked everything and set up the table for dinner. When it was time to break fast, I ate my briyani dam, and it tasted quite nice. After which, I watched TV. A few minutes later, the TV was watching me. Yup, I fell asleep. I think it was due to waking up early to eat before fasting and then the workshop and then go to the bazaar to buy food, it seems that I had no time to rest.

So, I slept. At around 10pm, I woke up just to message my gal and blog here. I got a message from my lecturer that Ivan's Muji entry was selected for the second round. That is such a great news! His bowl was selected, but I prefer the useful one pin. So, I checked my mail if I received any email from Muji. I even checked in the junk mail, but there weren't any. Maybe not yet. By the way, congrats to Ivan.
