The race day was today. When I was on the way towards Clarke Quay, I came across SP's principal. As usual, the weather was hot. My mother and sister came to visit the area and witness the race. Some of my classmates were there supporting us too, but only a few turned up. When it was about to start, especially when we were given our life jackets and the paddle, I start to get nervous. It was natural, I couldn't help it. Well, soon we picked up our raft and head towards the starting point. ![]() ![]() ![]() Right after the air horn was blown, I paddled the best I could. Ivan, was the other paddler for our raft. Saw all the other raft going further and further when I turned to look to my left. They went in the right direction, it was our raft that keep on turning right. Our raft like to drift a lot. It was frustrating especially when we were going at a fast speed, but to the right. I asked Ivan to balance it out by back paddling his side, but it doesn't seem to work. I am sorry Ivan for letting out my frustration during that time. All the time, I gave my best, and I believe Ivan gave his best too. In the end due to the direction problem, we ended coming up last in the race. This was the result. ![]() After that race, many questions were asked by the rest of the team members. I can see that we had disappointed our supporters there. I feel disappointed to have disappoint them. My hands were shaky after the race. That really shows how much I paddled. It just was not our day. We did not even get placings for the design of the raft. It was won by a raft that does not look like an F1 and made out of wood. Yup, it was won by CLS. Well, that is what I heard. It was just not right. Anyways, after that, we went to the mall again to grab refreshments. After which, a few of us went down again to take a look at the other races. It got bored and soon we moved away from the place. We took a look at our raft. We placed it in the fields were it was told to be carried back to SP. Well, remember the huge raft disposal site? I even said that some contestants in the race that I was in had their rafts destroyed, right? Well, they threw it away. It was said that if you throw away the raft, money must be paid. In the raft disposal site, I saw MM, SMA and SMIT's rafts. Went home after a tiring and disappointing day. It started to rain when I was on the way home. When I reached home, this was how it looked like. It flooded the floor about 3 centimeters high. I enjoyed the wet and cold weather, it was fun to kick the water..hehe. I got home, and did my work. Still lots to do. Submission is drawing near. Most of the work is already done. I spent the whole day on my work. Well, I was doing up dimension drawings for my communication device assignment. I completed it right before the news on 5. Watched the news and got my hand phone camera ready. When the news was about the Singapore River Raft Race, I waited till I got into the news, so I could snap this. Cool right? That is me, on TV with Ivan busting our butts off paddling our orange raft..hehe. Aidie blogged @ 7:53 AM |
