Episode: little things sum up to get big
Saturday, May 3, 2008

At 8.30 met up with my gal, sent her to Changi for her CCA interview. Reached there at 9.55 or so. I was hungry, went to McDonald's but I decided not to buy anything. I only had 20bucks in my wallet, and that money I loaned from my elder sister for materials to do my work. Soon, my gal's friend came and I left for school.

I starved to school. Remember, I have not eaten yet. On the way there, I saw this truck transferring liquid nitrogen to the school's liquid nitrogen tank. It gave out this cooling gas. Cool uh.

Reached the workshop, they had already finished painting the raft with a coat of emulsion paint already. For those who does not know, this raft that Singapore Polytechnic School of Design is building is for an annual even held at Clark Quay. All the other eight schools in SP will also be making their raft. Out of all the courses in SP's School of Design,my course was chosen to build the raft this year, following a theme that is F1. The winners will get 1K for winning the race and another 1K for design, I think. Hope that we walk away with glory on that day and the cash prise too. Haha.. A few classmates of mine and myself spent around two weeks building it up during the holidays. You can see the wheels at the back has been removed temporarily for paint job on its body. Today, it was time to paint it up. Since it was still wet when I came in, I waited for it to dry 1st, before putting on the second coat.

Just walked around and look at the new CNC machines that the school bought for us. My classmates were using it. Its cut was very accurate but very slow too. Take a look at these 50K babies. It cost around there. The bottom one cost around 30K.

With these, making a model takes lesser time and a better finishing. Oh what a cool course I am in. I did some painting on the raft, and left at around 3 with some classmates to go Bugis. When reached there, they bought finger foods. Cindy gave me some. At first I didn't want any, but she insisted, so I took some. It held my hunger for a little while. Anyways, thanks Cindy! Better get something good for her on her birthday that is coming soon. Haha..

After that, they escorted me to Bras Basah shopping complex, as I wanted and needed to buy a 5mm thick acrylic for my model. The shop did not sell it in its shelves, but they can help order one from their workshop. So, I paid up and they gave me an invoice so that I could collect in on Monday at 2pm. It cost 18bucks for that A3 sized acrylic sheet. I am glad that I did not spend the 20bucks on food. If I did, I wouldn't have money to buy that 5mm acrylic sheet and my group assignment would be screwed. Went up to Art Friend for a while, and Shah,my classmate, was working at that time. Busy guy. On the way home, saw two eye catching things. One, is the ODM watches. The shop had a collection of fantastic ODM watches. I had to stop and stare, and of course, take a picture of it. Two, saw this outstanding car on the streets of Bugis when I was on the way home. Nice!!

The first thing that I did when I get home is to eat. It was filling. My mom helped heat up some food, and as she was doing this, she announced that we were going to KL tomorrow for a day to shop. I thought it was a good thing, as I think I need the rest from all my work. After eating, I took a chill pill and watch some TV. Soon, the door bell rung. It was my grandmother. Sent over by two of my family members. There goes that KL shopping trip. Somebody had to take care of my grandma, so the whole family would probably be spending time taking care of her instead of going out. It was never a burden having her here, but the weird thing is those two family members of mine that sent her here, did not take the initiative to give us a call to send my grandmother here. It seems like they did not care whether we had plans or not. They might have plans, so they send my grandma here with us. It was ok, but if they called earlier and knew that we were going out to KL tomorrow, they would not have spoiled our plan and send her to any of my aunts house instead.
