Episode: day 4 of 'Aidieation' sketches and Furniture Design Forum
Friday, June 13, 2008

I was awoken by my hand phone's ring tone. I picked it up and answered. It was a call from Sentosa. Apparently, my lecturer recommend me and a couple of my classmates to work there for internship. After talking to her for awhile, she confirmed that the interview would be on a Monday when school reopens, at 5.

I got ready for today's plan. Went out at 12.45 and reached Dhoby Ghaut at 1.30 or so. Met Ivan and Paul. Then, we proceed to the Singapore National Museum for the Furniture Design Forum with Glenn coming late.

It was my 1st time going there. At the gates, after I entered the Museum, I was greeted by the huge sculpture. The sculpture which was known to be crafted my Da Vinci. Was it? I guess so. Such a huge sculpture. Just look at how big it is. I am sorry girls, I have to censorship that area, if not you would get high by its mere size. If you know what I mean..haha.

Then, we head down to the entrance of the room. Down an escalator and we had to queue. Saw my lecturers there, I thought of cutting the queue, but they did not let me. Anyways, as we queued, there were people serving us drinks. That's nice. Good service. Very class.

There was stickers with our names on it when we paid to enter the room. It costs $70 for students to enter, but since there was a one for one deal, we entered for only $35. Since many backed out, only seven of us came. So, one person had to pay the full amount, but since we were kind to our classmates, each person forked out $5 extra.

Soon, the forum started. Mr Naoto Fukasawa was the main person who gave us the talk. His book was the one I borrowed from my school's library. He gave a very meaningful talk about his philosophy of design, and how he came up with his works. I really wowed me. After that, there was the Q and A session.

Then, when it ended, everybody left. I got to take a picture with the man himself and so did Edwin my lecturer. It was so cool.

On the way up, there were showcases of the recent furniture design winners, and I manage to take a picture of a few. The showcase would be there for some time, so I may come again and take a look at it some other day.

Went towards the Designer's Cocktail Networking Reception next. The place was awesome, simply there was food and booze..haha, yeah! Not forgetting the people there. They were all designers at that place. From young designers like me to professional ones, all in a room having food and drinks together in a room. It was awesome, it makes me feel that I am a part of something. Surrounded by people who have the same passion towards design, was simply an experience I would never forget.

After that, we went to Plaza Singapura for a short discussion for next week's workshop. We sat around like we were having a class and our lecturer gave us instructions on what to bring next week and what would we be doing.

It only took a few minutes, and we went our separate ways. They went to the theaters wanting to catch KungFu Panda, while I went home. Reached home at 9, after I had dinner with my family at our area's food court.
